Water FootprintWater Footprint - ISO 14046

Who is concerned?

Any organisation using water resources in their products or processes, that wishes to
demonstrate its commitment to protecting
the environment and reduce risks related
to the poor management of water

Framework

The excessive demands placed on natural resources, owing to phenomena such as economic development, population growth and climate change, entails an acceleration in the depletion of such resources. Adopting a more responsible attitude therefore becomes essential, in particular with respect to the management of water resources.
A water footprint is an effective instrument to measure the quantity of water used in production processes and a vital step in assessing the environmental impacts caused by such activities.

Your Benefits

Our Services

A water footprint analysis allows an assessment of the magnitude of the impact on water of a product, process or organization, by using the methodologies specified in the ISO 14046 standard, "Environmental management - Water footprint - Principles, requirements and guidelines."
Published in final form in August 2014, the ISO 14046 standard makes it possible to adopt a unified methodology and to obtain consistent results which can be communicated to the end-consumer.
The analysis is based on a life-cycle approach, taking into account water management along the entire production chain, starting from raw material extraction to end-of-life treatment.
